Georgian Economy Minister pledges 'higher than predicted' economic growth in 2022
Economic growth in Georgia will exceed what international financial institutions predicted at the start of the crisis, Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili told MPs during his annual report to the Parliament.
Davitashvili promised that the Economy Ministry would promote private sector development as the key engine driving the economy and generating jobs.
In spite of the “tense geopolitical situation,” Russia’s war in Ukraine, and the Coronavirus pandemic, Davitashvili emphasized that Georgia maintained economic stability and continued to grow at a double-digit rate.”
World Bank on Wednesday issued a report for the region, soaring 2022 economic growth forecast for Georgia from 5.5% to 8.8%, “which right now is the highest in the entire Europe and Central Asia region.”
