Georgian Deputy Environment Minister attends low-carbon energy forum in China

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili has represented Georgia at the Low-Carbon Energy Forum held in Taiyuan, People’s Republic of China.

Within the framework of the forum, Solomon Pavliashvili addressed delegates about Georgia’s national experience and ongoing and planned reforms in waste management. The Deputy Minister drew particular attention to measures implemented across Georgia to modernise waste management infrastructure, improve resource efficiency, and embed circular economy principles.

Organised by the Provincial Government of Shanxi, People’s Republic of China, the event convened over 180 delegates from 35 nations. Attendees included deputy ministerial-level officials overseeing energy, environmental protection, and climate change portfolios, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, international organisations, academia, and the private sector.

The summit focused primarily on energy transition, low-carbon development, innovative energy technologies, and the prospects for green growth.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, during his working visit, Solomon Pavliashvili held a series of meetings with senior executives from Chinese companies operating in the circular economy sector. He also toured waste-processing plants and met with Chinese counterparts to explore potential avenues for Sino-Georgian cooperation in the development of the circular economy.
