Georgian delegation addresses OSCE Permanent Council regarding Warsaw Human Dimension Conference
At the OSCE Permanent Council meeting, the Georgian delegation delivered a statement on the “Warsaw Human Dimension Conference,” held from 5 to 15 October this year.
The Georgian representative highlighted the conference’s significance. The conference serves as one of the leading platforms for dialogue between participating states and civil society within the OSCE framework. However, the Georgian side also drew attention to repeated disruptions during statement deliveries, which undermined the spirit of constructive dialogue and prevented participants from expressing their views freely and without interruption.
“Regrettably, during the conference, repeated disruptive actions while statements were being delivered damaged the spirit of constructive dialogue and restricted participants’ ability to express their views freely and unhindered. Such behaviour undermines mutual respect and adherence to established procedures, which are essential for the effective conduct of multilateral cooperation,” the statement read.
The Georgian delegation’s statement emphasised that the credibility of OSCE platforms rests on respect for established procedural rules and codes of conduct, noting further that the rule of law, democratic governance, human rights, and freedom of expression form the foundation of the OSCE’s ‘Human Dimension’.
“Freedom of expression is a cornerstone of democracy and must be equally protected for everyone, including elected representatives and official figures,” the statement noted.
The statement reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to constructive cooperation within the OSCE framework and to dialogue rooted in impartiality and mutual respect.
“Georgia remains committed to good-faith cooperation within the OSCE framework and to constructive engagement within the organisation. We will continue to support an environment in which dialogue is substantive, participation is inclusive, and the principles of fairness, impartiality, and mutual respect are adhered to equally by all participating states and parties,” the statement concluded.
