Georgian Defence Forces Head meets NATO Military Committee Chair

The Head of the Georgian Defence Forces, Giorgi Matiashvili, met the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Rob Bauer.

At the meeting, the parties reviewed challenges in Georgia and the Black Sea region.

Giorgi Matiashvili stressed on transformation and long-term development priorities of the Georgian Defence Forces and Georgia-NATO military cooperation issues. He thanked the NATO Military Committee Chair for political and practical support to Georgia.

The Georgian side and Janusz Adamczak, Director General of the International Military Staff, have also reviewed progress within the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNGP).

A meeting of the military committee at the level of the commanders of the defence forces was held at the NATO headquarters. Major-General Giorgi Matiashvili met with his German, French, Romanian and Slovak colleagues within the framework of his visit to Brussels and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.
