Georgian citizens illegally detained by occupation forces released

Tristan Mushkiashvili and Valeri Tetruashvili, who were illegally detained by the Russian occupying forces in the occupied territory near the village of Dirbi, Kareli municipality, have been freed.

According to the State Security Service of Georgia, the third person, detained together with Tristan Mushkiashvili and Valery Tetruashvili remains in illegal detention, and “active work is being done to release him as soon as possible.”

The SSSG said, the hotline operated by the EU Monitoring Mission had been activated and International partners and the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions were immediately informed of the incident.

The body underscored that the responsibility for all destructive acts committed in the occupied territories of Georgia and along the occupation line lies with the occupying power.

“The central government, together with international partners, continues to work actively to release all citizens of Georgia who are illegally imprisoned in the occupied territories,” it added.
