Georgian Ambassador to Austria: Support to Georgia is clearly expressed in document released by OSCE Chairs
The statement of the five Chairs of OSCE is one of the main political documents adopted within the framework of the 27th Ministerial Council. Most importantly, the support to Georgia is clearly expressed in the document, – Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Austria told the Georgian Public Broadcaster.
According to Tsikelashvili, the document focuses on the problems arisen as a result of the Russian-Georgian conflict.
“This document unequivocally supports Georgia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The five OSCE Chairs, former, current and future Presidents, pledge to continue their involvement in the Geneva International Discussions and to serve as facilitators together with the European Union and the United Nations” – Ambassador said.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili notes that such record in a political document is very important for Georgia.
“The OSCE is a consensus-based organization, which means that documents must be approved with the consent of the 57 member states. However, the Russian Federation does not share the position of the majority on issues such as Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova. Therefore, the chairs have expressed their devotion in such form”, – Ambassador added.
Within the framework of the 27th OSCE Ministerial, the former, current, and future chairs of the organization Slovakia, Albania, Sweden, Poland, and Macedonia have released a statement supporting Georgia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
