Georgia ready to kick off mass COVID-19 vaccination in July, Health Minister says

Georgia is ready to kick off mass COVID-19 vaccination starting July, Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze announced on Monday.

The country will secure million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm and Sinovac jabs later this week, Minister noted.

As for the Pfizer vaccine, the Minister said the delivery date is known but she could not reveal it due to contract terms.

Tikaradze also believes double-jabbed tourists entering Georgia should take additional coronavirus tests for safety reasons. She said many countries do so. “This should be enforced rather than advised,” Tikaradze stressed.

Minister anew urges citizens to adhere to coronavirus recommendations in an attempt to beat the pandemic alongside the vaccine. “Social distance and face mask rules as well as observing all regulations are paramount,” she added.
