Georgia has secured a spot among the top 20 European nations for rule of law, judicial independence, and legal framework efficiency, according to updated data published under the World Bank’s Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI) project.

Drawing on executive opinion surveys conducted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the assessment reflects private-sector perceptions of judicial autonomy and the reliability of national legal channels.

On the World Bank’s standardised 0-to-1 scale, Georgia scored 0.589 (58.9 per cent) in the Rule of Law component, placing it 17th out of 43 countries across the European region.

Finland led the European rankings at 82.4 per cent, followed by the Netherlands (75.5 per cent), Azerbaijan (74.5 per cent), Lithuania (74.4 per cent), and Denmark (73.4 per cent).

Georgia outpaced several European Union member states in this indicator, including France (56.2 per cent), the Czech Republic (55.4 per cent), Italy (44.9 per cent), and Spain (36.7 per cent). It also scored ahead of all EU candidate nations, including Albania (56.4 per cent), Moldova (44.2 per cent), Ukraine (44.0 per cent), and North Macedonia (34.2 per cent).

The World Bank’s Worldwide Governance Indicators compile perceptions-based survey data from various international institutions, including the WEF, to evaluate business leaders’ assessments of judicial impartiality and the efficacy of legal mechanisms in resolving commercial disputes.
