Frank Schwabe, the German Bundestag member says Georgia is a “respected” member of the Council of Europe (CoE), “and for sure, the CoE is doing everything to bring Georgia closer to the European institutions.”
“Georgia is a part of Europe, a respected one in this organization and for sure, it should have a very close relationship with the EU,” Schwabe told GPB First Channel.
Bundestag member believes Georgia should handle its challenges to get closer to the EU.
“There are some challenges in the country and I know there is a very big confrontation between the government and the opposition. This is nothing the European institutions like, so the more we can bring the tensions down, we can improve the situation in the country, the more closer Georgia can come to the European Union,” he stated.
