In a demonstration of solidarity and protest, hundreds of private companies in Georgia participated in the “Georgia On Strike” activity today, halting their daily activities from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The strike has multiple locations across Tbilisi, including Vaso Godziashvili Park on Kazbegi Avenue and the First Republic Square.
Employees of cafes, groceries, and other businesses who were unable to reach the designated strike locations gathered outside their workplaces, carrying banners and voicing their grievances. Some eateries and shops even chose to remain closed in support of the strike.
The key demands of the striking workers remain unchanged, with a focus on urging the government to pay close attention to the ongoing developments and processes in the country.
Two primary demands include the holding of new elections and the immediate and unconditional release of protesters detained during mass rallies.
Two of Georgia’s largest commercial banks, TBC Bank and Bank of Georgia, allowed their employees to join the strike.
