Georgia observes the Day of Family Purity and Respect for Parents on May 17. On this occasion, the Georgian Orthodox Church will hold a procession from the Kashueti Church on Rustaveli Avenue in the direction of the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral.
The procession will kick off at 2 p.m. with the participation of the clergy and parishioners at the blessing of the Bishop of Senaki and Chkhorotsku and Patriarchal locum tenens Shio Mujiri.
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II declared May 17 as the Day of Family Purity and Respect for Parents in 2014.
Since 2024, the Government of Georgia has declared May 17 a public holiday to honour the Day of Family Purity and Respect for Parents.
