Georgia demonstrates strong commitment to fulfil obligations and EC's recommendations, PM says
Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, expressed his gratitude to Joseph Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, for his visit to Georgia. He highlighted that Borrell’s visit sends a clear message that the European Union stands with Georgia and its people.
Garibashvili also acknowledged the significance of the European perspective adopted by Georgia, describing it as a historic decision.
“We embraced a European perspective last year, which was a truly historic decision. I want to express our gratitude once again on behalf of our government for this significant milestone. We fully comprehend that the journey to full European Union membership is lengthy, demanding, and requires unwavering commitment and responsibility. We are well aware of these aspects.
With this understanding, we embarked on the path of implementing the 12 recommendations provided to us. Our political team, the Georgian Parliament, along with the government and other stakeholders, have put in tremendous effort. I want to reiterate the extent of our dedication on our side.
First and foremost, we demonstrated a strong commitment to fulfil our obligations and execute the recommendations from the European Commission. We facilitated an entirely transparent and inclusive process. Right from the start, we extended invitations to all interested parties, including the opposition, even the radical ones, and our doors remained open to them. Working groups were established, and all interested parties were invited to participate in this process,” he added.
