Geologists study disaster-hit zones' environmental developments

Three teams of geologists continue to study environmental processes in the disaster-hit zones across Georgia. Two groups are dispatched to the Imereti region, one to Adjara.

Landslide processes are observed in Imereti, while downpours in Adjara. On February 6-12, the geologists assessed the living conditions of 541 families and recommended relocation of approximately 300 households.

The National Environment Agency said that snow melting causes the swelling of rivers and generates the formation-activation of landslide and avalanche processes.
