“The ruling team’s values stand closest to me. I will endeavour to be the voice of Samgori district’s residents in the supreme legislative body,” Varlam Liparteliani, Olympic Vice-Champion and GD’s Tbilisi delegate in Samgori constituency, told the GPB’s First Channel.

According to Liparteliani, each citizen’s support is vital to protect the faith and traditions.

“I will try to cope with this challenge. Our country needs every citizen’s support. The peace that we need today has no alternative. I will be the voice of Samgori citizens and try my best to deliver their messages to the supreme legislative body.

Sports teaches us the spirit of struggle and striving for victory, and I am sure we will win. It was not an easy decision since I have been in sports my whole life. The ruling team’s values stand closest to me. Each citizen’s support is vital to protect the faith, rules and traditions.

All this requires protection as many forces undermine and discredit them. I believe that everyone should be involved – be they an athlete or a representative of any other field, everyone should unite around this spirit. This is my first step in politics, and I am nervous, but I think I will cope with that. Sports gives me power and energy to cope with all challenges,” he said.
