GD’s Machavariani: US strategy warns Brussels is driving the EU to a “civilisational abyss”; we hope Europeans will not let it happen

“When violent demonstrations funded and backed by Brussels, which answers to the “deep state”, and by individual EU member states broke out in our country, they tried to sell it to us as “democracy”. They aimed to topple the government and install their agents in power,” Georgian Dream MP Levan Machavariani wrote on social media.

According to Machavariani, when the same kind of “democratic” rallies reached their own doorstep, they were quick to call them by their real name: violent protests.

“Brussels and the previous US administration, which, as Donald Trump has said, was also heavily influenced by the ‘deep state’, spent billions organising unrest and revolutions in various countries. Mr Vance and Mr Rubio speak about this openly. Today we are seeing such unrest in European countries themselves.

There is now cautious optimism that European people are beginning to wake up and reject Brussels’ political agenda.

The approval ratings of the leaders of the EU’s leading countries are at record lows. Iceland has refused not only EU membership but even the resumption of accession talks. The German people have firmly rejected the policies of the Brussels-controlled elite. On top of all this, there have been mass demonstrations with clear demands.

For several years now, we have been saying that Brussels and the leaders of certain EU member states do not serve the interests of the European people. Acting on the orders of the so-called ‘deep state’, they are deliberately creating problems for the EU and for their own countries.

The people of Europe did not ask to give up cheap energy. Doing so has driven up the cost of living and created social problems in their countries. In some countries, it is also causing deindustrialisation, which in turn is pushing up unemployment.

The people of Europe did not ask for the spread of an ultra-left, pseudo-liberal ideology. LGBT propaganda, whose agenda now extends beyond changing one’s orientation to changing one’s sex, is creating problems for personal identity.

The people of Europe did not ask for uncontrolled, illegal migration. Excessive migration has led to a sharp rise in crime in Europe’s leading countries. Uncontrolled, illegal migration is also creating problems for both ethnic and religious identity.

The people of Europe did not ask to fund the Russia-Ukraine war ‘to the last Ukrainian’. The money taken from European citizens’ pockets to finance the war weighs heavily on national budgets. To put it mildly, it has done nothing to fulfil the false promises the Brussels ruling elite made to the Ukrainian people at the start of the war:

  • that, with Western help, Ukraine would defeat Russia;
  • that Ukraine would be fast-tracked into NATO;
  • that Ukraine would be fast-tracked into the EU;
  • that hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of frozen Russian assets would be handed over to Ukraine.

The people of Europe did not ask for relations with the United States, their closest partner for decades, to be damaged like this. Europeans cannot feel safe and secure while Brussels has such strained relations with the sole guarantor of their security.

Europeans are beginning to realise that the Brussels ruling elite, acting on outside orders, is deliberately trying to weaken and impoverish Europe. It is also deliberately trying to strip the European people of their national, religious and personal identity. They are wilfully damaging the partnership with the US, as shown very recently when a naked statue of Mr Trump was put up in the European Parliament.

As the current US administration has written in its National Security Strategy, the Brussels ruling class is driving the EU towards a civilisational abyss with its policies. We still hold out hope that the people of Europe will not give Brussels the chance to do so!” Machavariani wrote.
