Foreign national arrested for USD 35,000 counterfeit dollar scam in Adjara

Officers from the Investigation Service of Georgia’s Finance Ministry have arrested a foreign national for passing a large amount of counterfeit currency. The arrest followed a series of covert and investigative operations.

“The investigation established that the accused, seeking unlawful financial gain, passed 350 counterfeit USD 100 bills, worth a total of USD 35,000, in the Adjara region,” the Investigation Service said in a statement.

“As a result of the investigative actions, all of the counterfeit notes have been seized,” it added.
