GD’s Machavariani: Baltics joined EC, France, Italy in starting talks with Russia to resolve Ukrainian conflict
“The Baltics joined the European Commission, France, and Italy in starting talks with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian conflict,” wrote Levan Machavariani, a member of the Georgian Dream (GD) party, in his Facebook post.
“As a reminder, everone has kept on a strict position for four years – not to talk to Russia amid the situation when the European Union, Great Britain and former U.S. Administration shamelesly deceived the entire world and the Ukrainian people: Ukraine would definitely defeat Russia with the help of the West; Ukraine would join the NATO and the EU in an expedited manner; Ukraine would be handed over frozen Russian assets. Ukraine was gradually denied all promises.
I appeal to all those who staged rallies and wanted to organize an overthrow in the country and still seek to achieve this.
“Due to our refusal to loudly ‘curse’ Russia, for not imposing sanctions on Russia and not closing air space, not to send volunteer fighters at the official consent of the government, for not obeying Russian high-ranking officials and not ‘walking around’ by tanks in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, for not being naive as the radical opposition and not believing in the ‘Prigozhin Revolution’ and for airy-tailes unlike us. Did you ever react to this injustice with a single post?! For those who did not protest in any way about all this, and claim that you worried about the fate of Ukraine? You are hypocrites following trends. It’s high time to start thinking,” Machavariani said.
According to Euronews, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa and Estonian President Alar Karis have called for a special European envoy to take part in talks with the Kremlin to end its war in Ukraine.
