GD's Kadagishvili: Lawsuit on basis of Investigation Commission to be submitted to Constitutional Court within 1 week
“It is up to the Constitutional Court of Georgia rather than one particular party to decide the issue of political parties,” said Irakli Kadagishvili, a member of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.
According to Kadagishvili, the Constitutional Court will make the verdict.
“The complaint prepared on the basis of the Investigation Commission will be submitted to the Constitutional Court within 1 week, and the Court will make the verdict. As for the opposition’s statements about dictatorship, it was they who refused to participate in democratic processes and chose the policy of revolution, coup, undermining the constitution and overthrow.
They should consider that in a democratic state, the law applies more strictly to parties that engage in such actions than we do. The ‘Collective National Movement’ acted against the country’s interests,” he said.
Irakli Kadagishvili went on to say that the opposition uses their supporters for speculations, emphasizing the fact that these parties disregarded the support of their voters and renounced their MP mandates.
“They threw the support of their supporters into the garbage can. Speculation with people’s support is unacceptable. When you use your support for anti-constitutional actions instead of strengthening democracy and the country’s independence, you can no longer hide behind people. You should take responsibility for your actions. People do not want to return to the chaos of the 1990s,” he said.
