GD Executive Secretary urges PM to instruct relevant agencies against granting U.S. Embassy electoral status
The Georgian Dream party’s Executive Secretary and the leader of the parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze, responded to the latest statement published by the U.S. Embassy, which reads that “Countries cannot develop in isolation. Isolating Georgia from the West goes against the interests of its people.”
According to Mdinaradze, he calls on the Prime Minister to urge Razhden Kuprashvili (Anti-Corrpution Bureau Head) not to grant the US Embassy the status of an entity with electoral aims.
“This is a new statement from the U.S. Embassy. I call on Irakli Kobakhidze to urge Razhden Kuprashvili not to grant the U.S. Embassy the status of an entity with electoral purposes!” – Mamuka Mdinaradze wrote on social media.
On October 2, the Head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau announced the reversal of its decision mandating NGOs to disclose political expenditures.
On October 1, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze urged the Anti-Corruption Bureau to refrain from classifying certain entities as organizations with declared electoral aims before the 2024 parliamentary elections, referring to state expediency.
