GD Chair vows Georgia to be ready for EU membership in 2030

“We vow that Georgia will be ready for EU membership in 2030 based on the progress that the country has,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party live with Imedi TV.

According to the GD Chair, Georgia is the leading country in the region, outrunning Ukraine, Moldova as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and the Balkan countries with democracy, human rights, economic policy, and other parameters.

GD Chair further said that Georgia will follow an action plan that will guarantee its EU accession in 4-5 years.

“The main criterion will still be the economy. Some misrepresent all this saying that first, you have to become a member of the European Union, and then you have a chance to improve the economy. Everything is vice versa. First, you have to grow the economy at the European level to become a member of the European Union,” he said.
