GD Chair says ruling party to override President's veto as her steps encourage institutional crisis

The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party Chair, Irakli Kobakhidze, pledged to override the President’s veto on a bill of amendments to the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), saying the main task is not to “admit institutional crisis in the bank.”

“President’s steps facilitate the institutional crisis, and we aim to prevent it. In any case, the veto must be overridden to avoid an artificially created crisis,” Kobakhidze said.

The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party on Wednesday accused President Salome Zourabichvili of “hampering” the operation of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) by preventing the appointments to the vacant positions in the Board.
