Irakli Kobakhidze, leader of the parliamentary majority and chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, met with the Secretary-General of the Venice Commission and its experts. Following the discussions, Kobakhidze stated that the meeting covered various aspects of cooperation, focusing on court and election issues.

“We comprehensively reviewed the Venice Commission’s conclusion on the court. In matters of legal principles, we consider all recommendations. Regarding expediency, we considered the recommendations in general, although there are instances where we deviate from them and clarify our stance to the Commission representatives.

Concerning the Central Election Commission (CEC), we are presently awaiting the Venice Commission’s conclusion. Consequently, we refrained from delving into specifics. We reiterated to the Venice Commission representatives the factors behind the changes related to the staffing rules of the CEC,” Kobakhidze said.
