Gakharia for Georgia's MP Giga Parulava submits parliamentary question to SSSG Head
Member of the Political Council of the Gakharia for Georgia party, MP Giga Parulava, submitted a parliamentary question to the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG), Mamuka Mdinaradze.
“You will recall that on December 22, the final meeting of 2025 was held in Ergneti within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM). Following the conclusion of the meeting, Egor Kochiev, head of the delegation from Tskhinvali’s occupation regime, made the following statement during public communication with the media: “The issue of removing the Georgian police checkpoint remains one of the key topics for South Ossetia. Resolving such issues is impossible within the framework of a single meeting or one request. However, work is ongoing in this direction, and there are already certain positive developments. We have no alternative other than the complete removal of this checkpoint and its withdrawal from the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia.”
As one of the positive developments, he cited the criminal prosecution initiated against Georgia’s former Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Gakharia.
- Please provide information on what position was stated by representatives of the Georgian state regarding the removal of the checkpoint.
