Gakharia for Georgia’s Giga Parulava views Anaklia Port as strategic facility, but says GD lacks proficiency to construct it
“The Georgian Dream lacks the proficiency to construct the Anaklia port. It has changed strategic direction three times lately,” said MP Giga Parulava from the Gakharia for Georgia party.
According to Parulava, Anaklia port is a strategic facility and should be constructed.
“What we witnessed yesterday regarding the Anaklia Port was yet another failure for the Georgian Dream, and they shifted the blame onto the Minister of Economy. None of the high-ranking officials, including the Prime Minister, made any statement regarding the project.
We reiterate that Anaklia port is crucial for our country. It is a strategic facility and should be constructed. However, the Georgian Dream has no proficiency in constructing it. It has changed strategic direction three times lately. This confirms that they cannot implement the strategic project with a strategic plan,” he said.
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili announced at the briefing on July 6 that the Government of Georgia decided to construct the Anaklia Deep Sea Port using the globally proven ‘landlord’ model. Under this model, the state will retain ownership of the core maritime and port infrastructure, directly ensuring its development and management.
