Gakharia for Georgia member: Hysteria about unification unacceptable
“What is most significant and a priority for us is the release of political prisoners and defence of Georgia’s European future,” said Ana Buchukuri, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party.
According to Ana Buchukuri, the party has no communication problem over these two main issues.
“I have no idea or information what Madam Salome Zourabichvili meant by a resistance platform. She may provide further details. The two issues we will coordinate with political parties and Salome Zourabichvili are the release of political prisoners and Georgia’s European future. Other issues are irrelevant,” she said.
Buchukuri explained that the party team and the majority of citizens do not stand on Rustaveli Avenue for the release of jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili and accused the UNM party of “narrow-party interests.”
Remarking on Salome Zourabichvili’s proposal, Ana Buchukuri said the party would wait for more clarifications from the ex-president.
“Any hysteria over unification is unacceptable. We have heard hysteria from the UNM with no actual activities following and no answer to the question what they want,” she said.
Buchukuri believes that by bringing photos of Mikheil Saakashvili at the March 31 protest, the UNM attempted to put their leader in the foreground while the photos of remorse prisoners – in the background.
“The UNM has always been a red line for us and will be in the future. Nothing has changed over years,” she concluded.
