French Embassy issues clarification on implementation of agreement on legal employment of Georgian citizens
The Embassy of France in Georgia has issued a clarification on the implementation of an agreement on Circular Migration and Residence of the Professional Workers, signed between the governments of France and Georgia on 12 November 2013.
“On 12 November 2013, a bilateral agreement was signed in Paris. The goal is to facilitate temporary professional migration based on the mobility of students and qualified specialists and their return after the acquisition of professional competence. The aim is to promote legal economic migration with the prospect of a return to the country”, – the information released by the embassy reads.
According to the embassy, this is the first bilateral agreement signed between Georgian and France on professional migration issue.
The agreement provides:
– The possibility to request a 12-month long-term residence card in France for graduated Georgian students who want to get their first professional experience in France after graduation with the prospect of their return to Georgia.
– The possibility to request a renewed one-year temporary residence card for people that correspond to one of the 50 professions opened for Georgian citizens. The number of temporary residence cards issued by France should not exceed 500 per year.
– The development of exchange between French and Georgian specialists between the ages of 18 and 35; the number of young French and Georgian qualified specialists in both countries should not exceed 150 people per year.
French Embassy in Georgia will publish all the necessary information about the conditions for the implementation of the agreement at the appropriate time.
