Former Interior Minister summoned to Prosecutor’s Office for interrogation

Former Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri arrived at the Prosecutor’s Office, where he was summoned for interrogation over the opening of a police checkpoint in Chorchana village in 2019.

Gomelauri briefly remarked in an interview with journalists that he was against the checkpoint’s opening.

Vakhtang Gomelauri was Head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG), while Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the Gakharia for Georgia party served as the country’s Minister of Internal Affairs in 2019.

Giorgi Gakharia was asked questions about the Chorchana village police checkpoint at the parliamentary interim fact-finding commission investigating the activities of the 2003-2012 government and its officials.
