Foreign Relations Committee Chair: We need strong leadership of West to take bold decisions

The Georgian parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, led by Chair Nikoloz Samkharadze pays an official visit to Paris, France.

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation members participated in the Défense and Strategy Forum. Nikoloz Samkharadze addressed the panel discussion New Boundaries of Europe where he spoke about regional security challenges and ongoing developments.

Samkharadze stressed on NATO enlargement and Georgia’s role in ensuring European security. He said that 15 years on from the 2008 NATO Bucharest Summit, where Georgia and Ukraine received a promise that these countries would become NATO members.

“Georgia did its best to fulfil the obligations that NATO membership entails, and I would like to say that today Georgia is fully complies with NATO membership standards. Nevertheless, our membership requires a political decision through which Georgia will become a member of the Alliance. Speaking about NATO enlargement, the alliance members should be brave. We need strong leadership of the West to take bold decisions,” he said.
