Foreign Relations Committee Chair urges Germans to term Abkhazia, Tskhinvali regions as Russia-occupied territories
Georgian parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee delegation members met rapporteurs on Foreign and European Affairs, Knut Abraham (Christian-Democratic Union) and Christian Petry (Social-Democratic Party).
The Georgian MPs focused on the significance of Georgia’s candidate status and Germany’s role in the EU enlargement process.
German lawmakers stressed Georgia represents a part of the new European security architecture and pledged readiness to strengthen support for Georgia on its integration into Euro-Atlantic structures.
Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze thanked the German side for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty support. He also asked his German colleagues to term Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions as “territories occupied by Russia” in the official documents.
Georgian Foreign Relations Committee delegation pays an official visit to Berlin, Germany. Headed by Chair Nikoloz Samkharadze, the delegation comprises committee member Grigol Vashadze and Georgia’s Ambassador to Germany, Levan Izoria.
