Foreign Ministry summons Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia

Andrius Kalindra, the Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia, was summoned to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

According to the GPB’s First Channel, reportedly, the meeting referred to the Georgian visit of Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis and his address to participants of the anti-transparency law rally at Rustaveli Avenue as well as summoning of the Georgian Ambassador to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry over the law On Transparency of Foreign Influence.

Lithuanian Ambassador Andrius Kalindra commented after the meeting with the Foreign Ministry’s Europe Department Director, Gia Zurabashvili, saying, “This year, Lithuania and Georgia are celebrating 30 years of the restoration of diplomatic relations. So, every meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia is about how to deepen this partnership. And that was the same today.”

Asked whether the ambassador “discussed the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, to Georgia and the issue of summoning the Georgian Ambassador to Lithuania”, Kalindra responded: “Yes and no”.
