Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on the occasion of the 10^th anniversary of August 2008 Georgia-Russia war. According to the statement, 10 years passed after large-scale military intervention and occupation of Georgia’s two inseparable regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by Russia.

“Russia harshly violated international law principles and norms and created a dangerous precedence of altering borders through force and destroying European security architecture,” reads the statement.

Based the statement, Russia continues aggression against the sovereign country 10 years after the military hostilities. Military training is ongoing in occupied regions. Russia continues non-fulfilment of the August 12, 2008, truce agreement and internationally taken commitments.

There are barbed wires installed and illegal abductions of Georgian citizens keep on; human rights are constantly violated, free movement is abridged and teaching in Georgian language is prohibited.  Murder of three Georgian citizens – Davit Basharuli, Giga Otkhozoria and Archil Tatunashvili generated the syndrome of non-punishment and encouragement of ethnic cleansing.

Regardless of constant provocations, Georgia keeps on the agenda of peaceful resolution of territorial conflicts.
