“I sincerely hope that Brussels will not make a decision aimed at punishing the Georgian people,” said Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.

According to her, there is no justification for frightening Georgian society by threatening to suspend visa-free travel.

“They are discussing changes to the visa regime rules concerning Georgia, and this topic keeps resurfacing, despite there being no grounds to intimidate the Georgian population with the prospect of suspending visa-free travel. It is becoming increasingly evident to us that Brussels is utilising all available mechanisms and levers to exert pressure on Georgian society or to employ certain punitive measures against the Georgian people. I sincerely hope they will not make such a decision in Brussels, one that would serve to punish the Georgian society or the Georgian nation,” Botchorishvili stated.
