For Georgia’s Sharashidze: Georgia no longer leads EU integration process; loss of momentum rests squarely on Georgian Dream

“Georgia has surrendered its frontrunner status in the EU accession process, a failure that rests entirely on the shoulders of the ruling Georgian Dream party,” MP Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the Gakharia For Georgia party, declared.

Sharashidze stressed that his political force remains committed to keeping Georgia’s European aspirations at the top of the political agenda.

“Leaving aside the anti-democratic steps and reforms enacted by the ruling regime, we are all familiar with Irakli Kobakhidze’s statement, which effectively confirmed the suspension of the EU accession process until at least 2028. It should come as no surprise that Georgia, regrettably, slipped down the EU’s priority list. Despite this, our political party is doing everything within its power to keep Georgia’s European future on the agenda. That remains the objective of us all, despite the government’s repeated transgressions,” Giorgi Sharashidze stated.
