For Georgia’s Sharashidze: GD lacks the political will to advance EU integration; all they have left is abusing our European partners

“Georgian Dream is squandering decades of effort and the hard work of generations through a treasonous, anti-national agenda,” Gakharia For Georgia’s MP Giorgi Sharashidze stated.

Sharashidze argued that Georgian Dream lacks both the political will and the capability to restore Georgia’s path to European Union membership.

“The European Commission’s latest enlargement report confirms once again that, under Georgian Dream, Georgia’s path toward a European future has ground to a halt. What Irakli Kobakhidze declared back in November 2024 was no spur-of-the-moment decision; it was a long-standing plan that the ruling party has spent the past two years bringing to completion. Georgian Dream lacks the political will, competence, capacity, and desire to continue Georgia’s EU integration process. Against the backdrop of rapid progress by our neighbouring countries, we see Georgia essentially falling back by the day. Everything that generations poured years of sweat and toil into is, tragically, being cast aside at a stroke due to their treacherous policies,” Sharashidze said.

Sharashidze argued that the ruling party has run out of substantive arguments and reverted to hostility against Western allies.

“Left with no foundation or arguments, their sole remaining tactic is to launch aggressive attacks on our European partners. All they have left is verbal abuse directed at partner nations, their ambassadors, leaders, and strategic allies, the very organisation whose membership every state organ is constitutionally mandated to pursue.

Consequently, given recent escalation where Georgian Dream has reached a critical breaking point, crossing red lines and banning political parties at a stroke, this document stands out as arguably the most scathing enlargement report in our history,” Sharashidze said.
