For Georgia’s Sharashidze: GD exploits UNM infighting to its advantage; UNM is playing into the government’s hands

“Georgian Dream is using the United National Movement for its own propaganda purposes; the government today stands on the shoulders of the United National Movement. For us, just as Georgian Dream is corrupt, so too is the opposition United National Movement,” stated Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the For Georgia party.

Sharashidze asserted that the UNM’s factions are corrupt and that their decision to air their internal feuds in public only reinforces this reality.

“On the one hand, a process of self-exposure is underway within Georgian Dream, where we see current and former members turning on one another; an identical process is taking place inside the United National Movement. Neither force differs from the other; both are fundamentally corrupt. Georgian Dream leverages the internal drama aired by the UNM to serve its own ends. Wittingly or unwittingly, the United National Movement is doing Georgian Dream’s bidding. None of this has anything to do with a genuine opposition movement,” Giorgi Sharashidze stated.
