For Georgia’s Sharashidze: Call for dialogue with Russia is welcome step towards peaceful political solution

“Dialogue can always serve as a solution, especially given the current situation on the European continent,” said MP Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party.

He emphasised that a call for dialogue with Russia is fundamentally a plea for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing issues.

“It appears that there remains a general call for dialogue, including with Russia. We should not adopt a complex or ambiguous stance on this matter. Dialogue can always be a solution, particularly now, when the European continent is facing such a large-scale conflict, a war that is not merely between two states but one that ultimately impacts the entire continent. Therefore, if a leader of a nation urges Europe to engage in dialogue with Russia, it is solely a call for a political, peaceful solution, which we should welcome,” Sharashidze stated.

When asked by a journalist whether Giorgi Sharashidze supports dialogue with Russia, the MP responded affirmatively.

For context, French President Emmanuel Macron has also stated that resuming dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin would be beneficial.
