For Georgia’s MP Giga Parulava: Incompetent and damaging education reform is being forced through

“The government’s decision regarding secondary university clearing is further clear proof that an incompetent and damaging reform is being carried out across the education system,” MP Giga Parulava, a member of the Gakharia For Georgia party, has stated.

“As a result of this decision, prospective students will be forced to select not the degree courses they actually desire, but merely whatever places remain leftover. The reform of the education system is being executed in a manner that serves neither the interests of students nor the resolution of the acute challenges and problems genuinely confronting education today,” Parulava noted.

The ruling follows yesterday’s announcement that 1,795 university applicants who passed the minimum threshold on national examinations will be permitted to participate in a secondary clearing process this year, by way of exception.
