“The government’s only remaining test is the elections. If they avoid stealing the citizens’ vote, they will preserve their political future,” stated Beka Liluashvili, a member of the For Georgia party.
Liluashvili warned that if the Georgian Dream party rigs the parliamentary elections on October 26, it will lead to the establishment of an authoritarian regime in Georgia.
“We have heard similar concerns from the European Union. If the government conducts the elections fairly and respects the will of the Georgian people, the Georgian Dream can maintain its relevance as a political entity. However, if they rig the elections again, they will confirm the rise of authoritarianism in the country, and as a political organization, they will have no future. Georgian citizens will assert their will independently,” he added.
