For Georgia faction demands repeat parliamentary vote on public assembly amendments

The For Georgia parliamentary faction is demanding a repeat vote on proposed legislative amendments governing public rallies and demonstrations.

Faction chairman Shalva Kereselidze noted that while the legislative changes failed to pass on the floor, the vote ignited controversy when several majority MPs broke ranks to support the measure.

“In an attempt to justify themselves, some blamed it on coincidence, others on a technical oversight, and others on various excuses. Even if we assume a few individuals voted mechanically, how could 16 people possibly commit such a blunder? They voted in favour instead of against – that does not happen by accident. Furthermore, many others chose not to support it, abstained, or opted not to participate in the vote.

Let us not attribute this to a technical malfunction. This was a deliberate decision, and if they claim otherwise, let the vote be re-run from scratch. They have forced themselves into self-justification mode, scrambling for technical or mechanical excuses. I firmly believe this was no technical error or coincidence; it was entirely intentional,” Kereselidze declared.
