During the high-level segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili met with Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro, President of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister congratulated Suryodipuro on his election as President. The two discussed cooperation within the Human Rights Council.
The meeting addressed the humanitarian situation in Georgia’s occupied regions, emphasising the need for international monitoring in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali to safeguard human rights.
The Minister highlighted the importance of supporting the resolution “Cooperation with Georgia” and of addressing the issue of Georgia’s occupied territories within the UN.
They also discussed the peaceful resolution of the conflict, the Geneva international negotiations, and the UN’s role in this process.
