FM hands over EU enlargement-related first report to EU Ambassador

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili handed over the European Commission-designated Georgia’s first report prepared within the scope of the EU enlargement to EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the PM-led 66th sitting of the EU Integration Commission on April 18, 2023, endorsed the report.

The document comprises 35 chapters and reflects the legislative, institutional and other reforms carried out in the country to draw closer to the EU.

The Foreign Ministry said that the government coordinated with all state agencies, the parliament and court authorities to prepare the report.

The European Commission is due to publish its Opinion on Georgia’s progress in autumn. Based on the EC’s Opinion, the European Council will consider giving the country a candidate status at the end of the year.
