FM: Candidate status makes Georgia’s EU integration irreversible
“Candidate status made Georgia’s EU integration process irreversible. For further success, we continue the implementation of the reforms agenda based on public and national interests, and together with the EU, we will achieve the decision on opening negotiations for EU accession,” said Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili at Ambassadors Conference 2023.
The Foreign Minister said the Diplomatic Corps played the greatest role in Georgia’s positioning with its renewable energy and vast opportunities that were also significant besides candidate status and recognized progress.
“All successful steps taken in 2023 serve the sole purpose of ensuring our country’s security, and peace and making the development and prosperity irreversible. All this would not be fully accomplished without occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions. Daily, we continue to work on the priority of peaceful de-occupation and restoration of territorial integrity. I believe that our progress will contribute to our country’s peaceful unification in the future,” he said.
