FM Botchorishvili meets with UNGA President

Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, met with Philemon Yang, the President of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

During their meeting, Minister Botchorishvili reiterated Georgia’s commitment to supporting the implementation of the UN’s priorities and its endorsement of the values outlined in the UN Charter—namely, peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

Botchorishvili also highlighted Georgia’s active participation in UN initiatives, emphasizing the country’s contributions to advancing gender equality and strengthening women’s rights.

The two officials discussed the security environment in the South Caucasus region, including the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories.

Maka Botchorishvili expressed gratitude to the UNGA President for the unwavering support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. She underscored the importance of the General Assembly resolution “On the Status of Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia, and the Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia, Georgia.”
