FM Botchorishvili: Georgia to sign three global space declarations, marking a new phase of international cooperation

“Rapid technological advancement makes international collaborative formats essential, particularly for smaller nations that lack the extensive space capabilities of larger global powers,” declared Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili.

The Minister confirmed that three multilateral declarations are set to be formally adopted at the summit, and Georgia will endorse all three.

“It was emphasised once again that space governance is vital not only for European and global security, but also for economic development. In light of rapid technological innovation, structured mechanisms for cooperation are essential, particularly for smaller nations that do not possess the independent space capabilities available to larger powers.

The consensus voiced today that access and rights must be distributed equitably, that space belongs to all nations rather than being the exclusive domain of one or two states, is immensely important. Consequently, Georgia’s participation in these high-level discussions is important.

Georgia was specifically invited to join the platform launched by the President of France. The deliberations that follow this summit will be of great consequence. Three declarations are set to be adopted here today, and Georgia will accede to all three. This marks a foundational starting point for global space cooperation in which the European Union is a key participant,” Botchorishvili stated.
