Five UNM faction members quit Chiatura Municipality Sakrebulo

All five members of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) faction quit the Chiatura Municipality Assembly (Sakrebulo).

The UNM members announced at the briefing that the ongoing process in the party preconditioned their decision, adding they couldn’t stay in the party because the new UNM Chair had neither communicated with them for ten months nor invited them to party meetings.

Gogi Chikviladze, faction chair, stated that the new management failed to unite the party.

“Due to the current circumstances, we, all members of the UNM Chiatura faction, decided to quit the party because the party failed to unite in this difficult situation. The new management failed to do that, and we believe that the vision we have served and nourished is exhausted. Therefore, if there is no other way, it is better to distance from the situation and fight against the current regime from another platform,” Chikviladze said.

The resigned members of the UNM faction do not intend to quit mandates and plan to continue the fight from another platform.

Fourteen United National Movement (UNM) faction members quit the Zugdidi City Assembly (Sakrebulo) on December 5.
