Turkish Ambassador to Georgia, Ali Kaan Orbai, told the media outlets that five trucks will set off today for Turkey to deliver the humanitarian aid collected in Georgia.
“Today, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili was at the embassy, also Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, to sign our condolence book. They also told me personally about the financial aid Georgia is mobilizing for Turkey as a true friend,” the Ambassador said.
Ali Kaan Orbai also added that the Turkish business community in Georgia organized humanitarian supplies that would be transported in trucks, showing “the generosity of our Georgian brothers and sisters and the Turkish community here.”
|”There will be five tracks today moving towards Turkey to assist the humanitarian effort. They will go to the distribution centres and will then be sent to the places of emergency needs,” he said.
According to the Turkish Ambassador, Georgia was one of the first countries to respond to Turkey’s call for international assistance, dispatching a search and rescue team to the disaster zone of the quake-ravaged country.
“We feel Georgia standing with us from the very first day of the disaster. My sincere thanks to the Georgian government, people, Turkish community, our Georgian friends, brothers and sisters who never left us alone,” the Ambassador said.
On February 10, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili signed a decree allocating one million Georgian lari from the government’s reserve fund to find humanitarian aid for the people affected by the natural disaster in Turkey.
