Delegates from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), including Competition Director Klaus Waldner, along with ski and snowboard cross assistants and course builders, visited Gudauri in an event organized by the Mountain Resort Development Company (MTA) of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
FIS representatives conducted a planned inspection related to the 2024-2025 World Cup events to be held at the resort. The federation delegates studied the terrain of the slopes at the resort, selecting and planning areas for the ski cross competition course. Additionally, they inspected the existing infrastructure of the snowboard cross-competition course.
“During the 2024-2025 winter season, World Cup stages in moguls, ski cross, and snowboard cross disciplines will be held at Georgian mountain resorts – Gudauri and Bakuriani – in December and March. We are actively preparing for these international events and will be ready in all aspects. Our experience allows us to say that we can host international events at a high standard. Georgian mountain resorts will continue to be actively positioned on an international scale during the 2024-2025 season,” stated Irakli Burchuladze, Director of the Mountain Resort Development Company (MTA).
Georgia successfully hosted World Cup stages in moguls, ski cross, and snowboard cross disciplines during the 2023-2024 winter season. The competitions were highly rated by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) in terms of both infrastructure and organization.
Following the 2023 World Championships, FIS has decided that Gudauri and Bakuriani will host international-level World Cup stages annually.
