First Vice-Speaker says quitting MP mandates voluntary

Gia Volski, First Vice Speaker, said that lawmakers are free to quit MP mandates without being pressured by their parties.

Gia Volski commented on the alleged renouncing of the MP mandates by the ruling team members, Davit Sergeenko and Vakhtang Chachibaia.

“There is nothing scandalous, though the process is not pleasant. These people do not want to continue activities as independent MPs but want to work with their speciality,” he said.

Volski added that the Georgian Dream party holds consultations over replacement for the vacant positions as chairpersons of the parliamentary committees.
