“Alliance members are invited to the NATO Summit, and partner countries will participate in the Munich Security Conference (MSC), said Gia Volski, First Vice Speaker of the Georgian parliament.

“As soon as it became known that the NATO Summit would be held in Istanbul, a large-scale propaganda campaign was activated, saying Georgia was not invited to the summit. Only the alliance members are invited to this summit. There was a format under which a Side Event meeting with partner countries was held on the sidelines of the NATO summit. Such a forum is no longer held. However, in parallel, a meeting of the Munich Security Conference will be held in Istanbul. Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has already departed for Istanbul and will address the meeting on July 7.

Only alliance members are invited to the NATO Summit, while partner countries will participate in the MSC. Speculation that Georgia was put aside as a punishment is propaganda. This is the propaganda they apply to attempt to bring people out onto the streets, claiming that Georgia is cut off from this important forum, which is not only a lie but also information released with malicious intent,” Volski said.
