First 4-kilometre-long section of Kakheti Highway opens

The Kakheti highway’s first 4-kilometre-long four-line section has opened for traffic from December 8.

Georgian Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, inspected the works. He said the construction of the other two sections would compete in 2024.

The state budget funds the GEL 64 million-worth project.

“The 35-kilometre-long Tbilisi-Sagarejo section is the main part connecting Tbilisi with Kakheti and is a segment of a transit corridor connecting with Azerbaijan’s Northwest region,” the Minister said, noting that a Georgian company constructed a 4-kilometre-long road of the section, which bypasses Vaziani military settlement.
